Christian Gonzales

Christian Gonzales is an abstract painter from Baliuag, Bulacan. His art embodies creative freedom, a kaleidoscope of colors and movements with no limits. For Christian, abstract art is a conduit for sharing positive energy with his audience. He crafts each painting to infuse joy and hope into the lives of those who encounter his artwork.

Nature and ballerinas serve as Christian’s primary subjects, each canvas is a testament to his adept portrayal of these diverse themes. Inspired by his visits to Europe, his nature paintings capture the essence of mountains, changing seasons, and sprawling tulip fields. Meanwhile, his ballerina figures don abstract tutus. Beyond aesthetics, Christian aims to convey a powerful message through his ballerinas—that every individual, regardless of skin tone or body shape, is unique and beautiful. These graceful figures also symbolize grace under pressure, depicting motion and repose to illustrate the multifaceted nature of beauty.

Christian’s preferred medium is acrylic on canvas, a choice that aligns with his dynamic and impulsive approach to artmaking. His love for layering creates depth and complexity in his compositions. He sees acrylic as a forgiving medium, drying quickly and allowing him to swiftly add new layers—an aspect that emphasizes the importance of momentum in his creative process.

A self-taught painter, Christian’s artistic journey began with a childhood love for drawing, leading him to participate and win in school art competitions. However, practical considerations steered him toward a college degree in accountancy, followed by years of work in the software industry. Balancing corporate life, Christian found another outlet for creative expression through singing.

In 2019, a transformative trip to Europe reignited Christian’s artistic spark. A visit to the Louvre Museum became a turning point, prompting him to pick up the paintbrush once more. August 2020 marked the rebirth of his artistic endeavors. To sell his paintings, he used his digital marketing skills to reach more audiences through social media. In October 2023, Christian achieved a milestone with his first solo exhibit, Sonata.

Despite the demands of his corporate job, Christian seamlessly balances his artistic pursuits with other commitments and responsibilities. His love for colors serves as both motivation and stress relief, providing inspiration that transcends into his daily tasks. Recognizing the challenge of time management, Christian navigates this delicate balance by finding solace in the thought that creating art after office hours not only fulfills his passion but also becomes a meaningful reason to allocate time for his artistic endeavors amid a busy schedule.
